Mum’s 80th Birthday trip to Spain

by Adrian on May 8, 2007

Last week we were in Spain with Adrian's family at the Spanish house. It was the first timne we'd had visitors, so was a bit of a test run for everyone.

Jax and I went out a couple of days early to finish the 101 last minute jobs that needed doing, such as making up the bunk beds and kitchen unit, making shelves for the kitchen, lounge and dining room, giving the furniture a second coat of varnish and a top coat of clear lacquer. We also met the pool man, Paco, who had just filled the pool.

By Friday we were pretty much ready, so people arrived and the place rapidly filled up with bags, clothes, food and chaos. For the first few days the weather was fine and sunny so we stayed around the house, sunbathed, walked, went for long, hilly runs and ate lots of food.

For Sunday lunch, we took a trip to the Restaranto Tinterno, a typically Spanish food-fest where waiters continually circulated with plates of different types of food and you just grabbed what you fancied. It was a great feast and we all left well and truly stuffed!

Typically, the weather deteriorated a bit mid-week, so we had a few trips out to tourist destinations such as the scenic ancient city of Ronda, and the shopping centres in Malaga.
