Gedser, SE Denmark

by Adrian 28th Jul 2012 - baltic

We’ve stopped and left the boat for a couple of weeks in Gedser, which is right on the South Eastern tip of Denmark.

It is notable as a significant headland with a huge huge wind farm just offshore. A very sleepy place, but it has a very pleasant and safe marina.

We’re leaving Vagaris for a couple of weeks whilst we return to the UK for weddings, work and the olympics.

Note, the nearest fuel to the Kiel locks we could find was across the bay to the northern end of Laboe marina.

A 60 mile day sail along and up the south coast of Denmark to a town called Klintholm.

Quaint little holiday resort with a very sheltered harbour. Quite a narrow entrance, would be tricky in a strong southerly, but probably ok as used by a few fishing vessels. Plenty of visitor mooring places (50+) some boxes, some alongside if you’re early enough.

Quiet in the North Sea

by Adrian 19th Apr 2011 - baltic

I’ve just completed a 3am – 6 am watch whilst sailing across the North Sea.

I’m 3 days into a 7 day delivery of a new 31′ Halberg Rassy yacht. I’m mate on board a crew of 3.

We’re currently heading south along the Danish coast towards Germany.

It’s first light now, but the past few hours have been wonderful; bright moon, steady force 4 winds, smooth seas, full sails up and hand steering.
