Porto Veccio

Left Bonnifacio in calm winds. Nothing significant to sail in, so motored around headland for 20 miles to next port of call – Porto Veccio. Another lovely French fortified town. More cocktails and then fabulous meal at another little restaurant overlooking the bay. Its great touring round at this time of year as the marinas have space, charges are reasonable and places aren't crowded.

Bonifacio and around

We decided to spend the night in Bonifacio with Tony before heading off to give him time to enjoy the place and us all to get sorted ready for the next leg.

Went out for cocktails at the nearest bar – 20m away at the end of the pontoon – very handy and great for Jax. Bit of excitement – one of the super yachts we'd seen a week ago came into port so we all stood around like dazed tourists gawping at the amazing beauty of the 150ft (46m) lines of the multi multi million ££ 'Pink Gin'.

Welcome to Bonifacio

Today we set off from the Madellena Islands across the Bonifacio strait to Bonifacio, where we are due to meet Tony tomorrow. The islands have been very nice but due to the slightly poor weather we haven't really experienced them at their best. Strangely, the weather in this region seems reasonably unsettled due to the funelling effect of the wind between Corsica and Sardinia.
